middle management - bishop allen

Pacific Beach, California. not too shabby. i arrived on friday to beautiful 70 degree and sunny weather, and was greeted by my super friendly roommate-to-be at the airport. this was followed by a nice tour of downtown san diego, really a pretty city, lined with palm trees, and a drive around the bay, spotted with sailboats and jet skies. my apartment is 8 blocks from the beach, which i can even see if i stand in the middle of the street (i've been here four days and still cannot get over the fact that i can see the ocean after literally stepping out of my front door). pretty mellow day, ran to the beach to familiarize myself with the pacific ocean. the next day included a barbeque on mission bay, followed by some chilling out with some beers and what turned out to be a long night, including some late night beach cruising and experiencing pacific beach en la noche. next day finally went grocery shopping, and discovered the several used clothing and book stores that i am eager to delve into, as well as the typical installments (american apparel, frozen yogurt, yoga studios, surf shops, etc). tomorrow: Scripps Institute of Oceanography. pikchures to come.

nothing sir - the grates

just a test post...because my typing skill have exceeded my handwriting skills, i've decided to explore the blogging world by starting my own, rather than keeping a journal. as some of you know, my summer will be spent doing research for a graduate student on the acoustic behavior of blue whales, at the scripps institute of oceanography (part of ucsd). this way, people can keep tabs on what i'm up to, if they care to know, and i can keep a virtual diary of the things i learn and encounter here in san diego. hopefully i'll keep it up. 13 days until i go from 20817 to 92109.
